About Us

The Shop

Founded in 1964 by John and Wallace Milroy, Milroy's of Soho is London's original whisky specialist. We carry a comprehensive range of more than 700 hand selected whiskies from around the world. All of the operating and many of Scotland's closed distilleries are represented, together with a strong selection from Ireland, Japan, the USA and Canada. The whisky selection is supplemented by a collection of fine Rums, Cognacs, Armagnacs and other spirits. Over the years, the Milroy's of Soho wine offering has expanded and they now have access to a portfolio of over 2,000 Champagnes, wines and fine wines. We will happily track down any special fine wines or whiskies you are looking for.

Visitors to the shop will find over 300 malts available for tasting at any one time and the shop runs a programme of Tutored Tastings throughout the year in its own Tasting Cellar. To find out more about the Tasting Schedule or booking the tasting cellar for your own exclusive event call Cathy on 0207 235 3138.

Whiskies may be purchased on-line via the Milroy’s of Soho website milroys.co.uk and a mail order business operates throughout the UK and worldwide.

Philip Shorten joined the wine and spirits trade after a decade in management consulting. He has completed the WSET Diploma of Wine & Spirits and visited wine producing regions throughout Australia, the United States, France, Spain, Italy and Hungary. Although he spent most of his life growing up in southern Australia, his tastes are very much international, with a leaning to the wines of France and Italy. A relative newcomer to the world of Whisky, Phil has a particular penchant for peat and smoky Islay malts.

Philip Kirk has worked in the Wine trade for the past 13 Years. Whisky became a passion after Sampling a Black Bowmore 1964. Although a great admirer of the robust peaty malts of Islay, the refined subtlety of speyside malts provide a source of endless fascination . A big fan of the Rhone and Bordeaux and always ready to take a punt on Burgundy, his enthusiasm for wine is a good match for his Whisky appreciation.
