Founded in 1934, Laytons has an established position as a leading supplier of wines, fine wines and Champagnes to a wide range of hotels, restaurants, corporate customers and major contract caterers. Its original reputation for sourcing wines from the world’s traditional areas of production, particularly Bordeaux and Burgundy, has significantly expanded over the years and received an injection of New World expertise when acquired by The Jeroboams Group in 1999.
The portfolio is concentrated around highly individual wines that reflect their terroir and country of origin with authenticity and authority. The buying ethos is to strive to keep the range vibrant, alive and challenging with new wines that offer individuality of character. The company has the financial strength and commitment not only to enable it to take advantage of unexpected buying opportunities as they arise but also help in the acquisition of exclusive UK agencies for some of the smaller, premium quality producers worldwide.
Laytons has always prided itself on its delivery service by its own dedicated transport fleet and its ability to react, at short notice, to unexpected or emergency demands from customers whenever possible.
The MW lead sales team provides a high degree of personal attention and informed, market-aware advice. This, together with a capability to offer a wide range of support services includes advice on wine list selection and production, customer staff training and the creation of sales promotion initiatives, allows total customer confidence.
