Port Askaig 100 Proof 57.1% ABV

A rambunctious single malt from the island of Islay, bottled at a hearty 57.1% ABV. While the distillery might not be disclosed, Port Askaig is a hugely popular line of independent bottlings, and we rate the complex smokiness. The name references the ferry port on the North East of the island.

Nose: A meaty smoke comes to the fore, along with burning logs, sea spray and citrus oils. It’s all underpinned by an earthy flintiness.

Palate: A thick, rich, mouth-coating dram, there’s mocha, cinnamon, liquorice and apple pie, along with a bonfire smoke that adds depth.

Finish: Very long, very smoky, and with drying cinnamon, too.
