Caol Ila 12 Years- Old 2009-22  Wilson & Morgan - PX Sherry Finish / 55.3% / 70cl  

A very full-bodied single malt from Islay, enriched by the finish of 6 months in Pedro Ximenez casks. While they had a strong influence, though, it still is very recognisable as a very heavily peated whisky from the island.  

Nose: A rich and full-bodied nose, with charred wood, hints of polished leather, tangy spices, iodine, beach pebbles, herbal and fruity notes from the sherry cask overlay the whole of the nose perfectly.  

Palate: With a dry and rounded opening to the palate this is a remarkably interesting dram from Islay, with a subtle hint of the sherry cask underpinning the front to mid palate but never over dominating, liquorice root and orange notes through the mid to the finish that has a growing smoke and peat notes, some tangy oak aged balsamic and tangy smoked fruits.
